The owner of Gold Coast theme park Dreamworld has confirmed its continued commitment to the Big
Brother phenomenon as the top-rating reality show moves into its third season in ‘The House’.

The Macquarie Leisure Trust (MLE), which owns the theme park, has committed its facilities to Big
Brother’s producers as a central part of a sustainable growth plan within the Gold Coast tourism
industry, said Mr Neil Balnaves, chairman of the responsible entity of MLE.

“Big Brother put Dreamworld back on the map. For 12 weeks during the first series, 1.5 million people
every night saw the Dreamworld logo and they saw the Big Brother eviction party at Dreamworld.
Dreamworld became a place where things were happening and that continued with Series Two.

“To get the kind of publicity that Dreamworld’s had in the past two years, you’d be paying $20m in
advertising. We can be seen as synonymous with Big Brother for ancther 10 years.”

Bainaves was aclive in securing the Big Brother franchise for Dreamworld — & connection he
aggressively pursued because ha believed in the cross-over of television entertainment to theme park
and leisure.

The Australian Big Brother is the first and only Big Brother in the world where the action takes place in
a theme park. Its arrival in April 2001 was one of the catalysts for an upturn for the park, reversing a
dedline in park attendances and setfing Dreamworld on a growth path.

“It has essentially become a ride’. People can see Big Brother on TV and they can come fo
Dreamworld go to the eviction parties and have Big Brother — The Experience.”

Mr Balnaves said the Dreamworld-Big Brother collaboration was helping fo drive tourists into the Gold
Coast. Tourism operators as far away as New Zealand were creating packages for visiting the show.

Dreamworld has experienced 22 months of improved performance. The Macquarie Leisure Trust has
a current yield of 10.1% and has outperformed the S&P/ASX 300 Accumulation Index since November
1999.
